This training allows you to teach the highly acclaimed Parent to Parent: Family Training on AD/HD classes in your local community. The deadline for registrations is May 16thth.

CHADD's Parent to Parent: Family Training on AD/HD provides educational information and support for individuals and families dealing with AD/HD and learning to navigate the challenges of AD/HD across the lifespan. Courses are offered in local communities across the country. The curriculum was developed by parents who have lived the experience, but who also have had access to the best researchers and practitioners in the country. Each participant receives extensive materials to support the class including articles, reference materials, handouts and homework assignments. The curriculum is very structured and includes information on every aspect of treating, educating and parenting a child with AD/HD!

The topics discussed include:

• Overview of AD/HD
• Assessment to Multimodal Treatment
• The Impact of AD/HD on the Family and Creating Developmentally Appropriate

and Positive Behavioral Interventions
• Developing Parenting Strategies and Interventions to Strengthen Family

Relationships
• What Do I Do When My Child is Having Difficulty at School: Understanding the

Federal education Laws
• Working with Schools: Building an Education Team that Works
• Resiliency, Teen Challenges and Future Success

· If you are a parent or family member of someone with AD/HD, have AD/HD yourself, a chapter volunteer, a health care professional or an educator; and want to assist other parents, consider becoming a Certified Parent to Parent Teacher. Join a group of teachers offering these classes throughout the country. The program will orient you to the well developed curriculum, including materials and policies for the classes. The training culminates in a 15 minute oral presentation by every student. All approved students will then be awarded a Certification in Teaching Parent to Parent Training. The cost of the training is $250. We encourage local CHADD chapters to provide financial assistance to applicants for the teacher training.

Applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. There are only 24 seats available. Please be advised that there is a very high level of interest in the Certification Course.

If you are interested in becoming a Certified Teacher go to CHADD's website, on the Parent to Parent page named "Become a Teacher" to learn more and apply online!
