Arg, it's Groundhog Day...6 more weeks of winter!  :(  I'm bummed, it's really been a long winter already, and I'm ready for some warmer weather so we can get out of the house, go for walks, and play outside!  Anyone else?

Me too!

I hate this crazy weather! We took Bekka to Riley's this last week and on Tuesday it was 50 degrees and they had two tornados and then the next morning it was 6 degrees. Bekka is sick yet again. Took her to the Dr today for the second time in three weeks. She has her second virus or maybe her first never truly went away and an ear infection. She sounds so congested and she coughs till she gts sick. My poor baby I hate it when she's sick. I wish it was 65-75 all year round!!!

Blessed to be Bekka's Mommy

shouldnt' be too bad

It doens't sound like it will be too bad, temps back on the rise and steady now.

The local groundhog didn't see a shadow ? just the national one, and what else could be expected when you have a zillion camera lights on you ! Not only that we really can't count on the groundhog to perdict the weather as he is coming out to find a mate, and you know, when guys have one thing on their minds, the rest really doesn't matter !

At least the kids were able to go out and play this morning and yesterday. The fresh air and exercise has done them good. The youngest fell fast asleep by 5 pm yesterday from playing outside so much!

Winter

Well The Groundhog always sees his shadow but if you look at a calender and count the weeks for the first day of spring there is technically 6 more weeks of winter.

My first winter since 15years!

That's my first winter since 15years! I am from Canada and ladies believe me there it's cold and for months. Not that I am not cold here specially that our winters there are 75-80degres but I found my self miserable staying inside so I go outside to just walk with my son and wow that he loves it. Even in cold days he cries when it's time to go in. I just went him to like the winter and play with it. Just 15-30minutes a day change his attitude for the all day and mine also... you should try it!

Really can it get any more depressing? I am tired of being in the house. We want the sun!

need fun games...Cure for the Mid-Winter Blahs

Pirate Day: Everyone knows that pirates are awoken to the sound of clanging bells and the smell of boiled hardtack (oatmeal!). Errands can be transformed into raiding parties. For our Pirate Day we re-named our car “The Green Pearl: Scourge of the Carpool Lane.” Christen your vehicle whatever seems appropriate. Be sure to fly the Jolly Roger, in order to warn other drivers. A blue sheet on the floor with a yardstick makes a great “plank” for your young pirate to walk. Of course, “sharks” will have to chomp on any exposed ankles. Don’t forget to call everyone you meet “lubbers,” and use the word “Arg” a lot.

Princess Day: Wake your princess to a breakfast of mini-muffins, mini-waffles or silver dollar pancakes. Help her dress in her finest, most flowing gown, and style her hair in a special way. Water and cotton swabs make excellent “make-up.” If you already have a crown, wear it as much as possible. Otherwise, wrap a strip of foam around your child’s head and help her stick plastic “gems” on wherever she wishes. Of course, at naptime, your little princess can pretend to be Sleeping Beauty.

Cure for the Mid-Winter Blahs...2

Pajama Day: This is one day that requires no planning, and works especially well on snow days, when older brothers and sisters can join in the fun. Just let everyone stay in their pajamas. Bring down blankets and pillows. Make forts out of cushions and tents out of blankets. Eat a warm soup and grilled cheese lunch, or even bake some cookies together in the afternoon. Play board games, watch movies, read and color. Talk with your children about the blessing of having such a warm cozy home on a cold winter day.

Outer Space Day: This day is all about exploration. An Altoid box makes a great “communicator.” Just decorate the top and sides with foam “buttons” and “dials.” Footie pajamas make great space suits, just be sure to add a utility belt. This is a great day to work with shape recognition. Try scattering paper triangles, circles and stars on the floor. Help you child travel from “spaceship” to “planet” to “star.”

These are just a few ideas. As a parent, you know what will pique your child’s interest best. Just like casual day can brighten an office, theme days can turn an ordinary day into extraordinary one at home. With just a little planning, and a lot of imagination, you and your preschooler can create a day filled with fun and memories.

Pajama day

We are having pj day tomorrow!  I am still sick and running a fever, we ran all of our errands today so we don't have to leave the house tomorrow.  It's going to be very cold and windy, so it's a great day to lounge around the house!

Feeling better

I am hoping that you are feeling better. It sure is getting people down this flu bug. I just wanted to give you ladies a little home remedy that really does work. If you are congested and feeling awful, before you go to bed, rub vicks on your feet and put socks over it. It sounds gross, but it works awesome.
