4H projects
For anyone interested... 4H sign ups are taking place all over the county. There are projects for the toddlers and preschoolers, and Kdg-2nd grade for fair projects to participate before the regular 4H program. If the kids sign up before June 1 (i believe) and complete their project and turn it in they will receive a ribbon and a couple of walk through passes for a family(family=4) to the fair. Well worth it if you go to the fair and its good for the kids to complete a poster, painted rock, a necklace etc. and then get thier ribbon.
The fair has alot of good programs available to the kids as they get into regular 4h. So this is a good way to get them started and at this age its simple projects for completion.

Fair
I was in 4h and loved it. I have my son signed up. There are also family projects that you can do to get a ribbon. Get you child signed up it is a good time at the fair. We love to go to the dairy barn for ice cream during fair week.

Signups
If you live on the south side of SB in Centre/Marshall/Monroe townships you can sign up for 4-H this Saturday at Ag Days. In case you don't know about Ag Days, it runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the 4-H fairgrounds and it is free. There are things for kids of all ages to see.
AG days and 4H sign up
Do you know the times of AG days on the weekend?? Also is 4H sign up free >>> I have a 3 1/2 year old and what types of projects can they create or enter for??? I did 4H years ago and cant remember ...please let me know...
Thanks A Lot...
Prices & projects
I believe that a 3 1/2 year old is in Clover buds. In clover buds you get a booklet of about 15 to 20 projects that you can pick from. I know that my son did a couple of them in the book and then he picked out which one he wanted to display in the fair. There is rock painting, some coloring pages, make a bird feeder, take crayon shavings and melt them into a picture on wax paper (this is the one that he displayed in the fair). The price depends on what township you are in. I am in the Mishawaka club and we don't pay anything for clover buds. I know that I was going to enroll him in Penn township and I think it was going to cost $2.00. I think that it is well spent money.

Projects
You can get a book of projects when you sign up, and you don't have to choose right away. Just sign up and choose before you have to turn it in. It is great for little ones because the projects can be as much or as little as they want to do... color a picture or decorate it with craft supplies and glue etc.
There is another posting with the hours for Ag Days.
if you need to know your township leaders..
If you need to know your township leaders you can call the Purdue extension office and they can advise you who you need to contact to get enrolled. Most townships have a two or three dollar enrollment and there is a per family max normally of like 5 bucks or so. Yes well worth it to get your pass to the fair too. The admission of the fair is more than the cost of enrollment. It is good for the kids to get to have a "project" at the fair for all to see and have their ribbon on it. It is a good feeling for them. You must sign up before 6/1 in order to get your passes and you must complete your project to get your pass too.
My kids have done painted rocks, making homemade jewerly, and now we are headed to the regular 4h program :) Cloverbuds and mini 4h are only allowed to do one project vs regular 4h can do as many as you want. There is a pet parade for mini 4h too. Lots to do.
Penn???
Does anyone know . . . I live in Mishawaka (Penn district)and I thought I heard that they already had a sign up time. Did I miss it or can I sign my kids up somewhere else or some other way? My kids are all little, so they'd be in the mini4-h or clover buds, but I'd love to get them involved. Thanks for your help!

Call the Purdue Extension office
I am sure you can still sign up. Our township already had an official sign up too, but you can sign up through June 1.
after june 1
you can actually sign up after june first , but you will not get a pass for the grounds and if in regular 4h you may not qualify for awards because you would not have attended enough of the clubs meetings.
sign up
As stated you still have time to sign up, call the extension office to find out who your township leader is. They handle all of the signups for your twp. You can probabally sign up at ag days as well. Many of the twps. have someone there doing paperwork too.
